COVID-19: How B.C. Maritime Communities are Responding to the Pandemic
Description
The COVID-19 pandemic is history in the making. We need your help to capture it! Consider contributing your story today. In text, images, audio, and/or video, share how the pandemic has affected you. Feel free to add more than one contribution!
To add a story, please select "Contribute" from the main menu.
Please note that any files added to the site will need to be 2MB or under in size in order to be accepted by the site. Videos will work best in mp4 format. If you have a file that is larger than 2MB, or are having any issues with the Contribute page, feel free to email us your story and files to info@mmbc.bc.ca and we can post them for you.
Your stories will be stored on this site as a digital repository for this history. Once the pandemic has subsided, the Maritime Museum of BC will archive these stories and preserve them for the future.
If you would like to contribute a story, image, video, etc. but not have it shared online, please email us your content to info@mmbc.bc.ca and add a note asking that it not be shared online. We will then save these files on our private and secure server for future study.
Are you wondering what to post? Here's some questions to get the ideas flowing!

Are you wondering what to post? Here's some questions to get the ideas flowing!
- If you work in the maritime field, how has the pandemic affected how you work? Are you now working from home, and if so, what does that look like? Are you going into work? If so, how have work place procedures changed to keep everyone safe and healthy?
- If you are a recreational boater, how as the pandemic affected your summer boating plans, including any maintenance work?
- If you had a research or craft-related project on the go, how has the pandemic affected it?
- If you typically spend your leisure time at the beach, how have your visits to the beach been affected?
- Do you feel government subsidies have been sufficient for you and your household? If so, what has been particularly helpful about them? If not, what could the government do differently?
- Have you been able to keep in touch with friends and family during the shut down? If so, how do you do this? Through phone calls, video chat, old fashioned letters? If not, what barriers have you experienced that keep you from maintaining those connections?
- How are you doing? Have you found yourself experiencing more stress? How have you been able to find ways to manage this stress, and if so, what are they?
If you have any questions about this, please contact us at info@mmbc.bc.ca.
